Acupuncture – Cupping – Bloodletting Therapy
Acupuncture– Does not hurt!
Acupuncture is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practice that originated thousands of years ago. It is based on the premise that a blockage or disturbance in the flow of the body’s life energy, or “qi,” can cause health issues.
Does Acupuncture hurt?
You may feel a slight sting, pinch, ache, or some pain as the acupuncture needle is being inserted. Some acupuncturists manipulate the acupuncture needle after it has been placed in the body, by twirling or rotating the needle, moving it up and down, or using a machine with a small electric pulse or current.
Some acupuncturists consider the resulting tingling, numbness, heavy sensation, or ache (known as “de qi”) desirable in achieving the therapeutic effect.
If you experience pain, numbness, or discomfort during the treatment, you should notify your acupuncturist immediately.
Is The Specialist Certified?
YES!
Trained and licensed . A licensed acupuncturist is required to complete the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diploma and later pass The College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO) exam to obtain a license and be able to practice in the province of Ontario.

In order to reduce the risk of serious adverse effects, acupuncture should always be administered by a licensed and properly trained practitioner using sterile, disposable needles.
How long does the Treatments take?
Although the length of the acupuncture session can vary from a few minutes to over an hour, the typical treatment length is 20 to 30 minutes. The initial visit may take up to 90 minutes, including time for an intake and taking your medical history.

How long do the results last for?
Semi-Permanent Cosmetic procedures can last for many years. The actual length of time is variable and depends on factors such as UV / sun exposure, skin type, beauty regimen, the density of color implanted into the skin (softer enhancements do not last as long as strong, bold enhancements). All enhancements will require a color boost or top up every year or two to maintain their crispness and color.
Can I play sport or swim immediately following the procedure?
We recommend that you avoid sport on the day of the procedure, and avoid swimming (fresh or salt water), saunas and steam rooms for at least 6 days or until the skin has fully healed as this could cause infection and the tattoo to fade.
How quickly will my procedure heal?
Immediately following the Permanent Cosmetics procedure the enhancement may display mild redness and occasionally a slight localized swelling. This usually subsides within 24 hours, and should not hinder most normal day-to-day activities. The color will also appear substantially more intense – about 30-50% darker than desired, but this will lighten and soften as the skin heals, usually within 6-10 days. It generally takes between three and four weeks for the final color to ‘bloom’ and settle, and it is only at this stage that the true color of your Permanent Cosmetics procedure can be fully assessed and appreciated.
How will I look immediately afterwards?
Brows procedures are barely noticeable, usually only appearing slightly darker. Eyes may swell a little, but this generally only lasts for a day. Lips will swell and may remain swollen and chapped in appearance for several days.
Can I wear make-up afterwards?
We advise not to wear normal cosmetics until the skin has healed as this may cause infection and/or hinder the healing process. If you absolutely have to, a light application of newly opened mineral make-up using new / clean brushes and wands is permitted, but we would rather you keep the treatment site hygienically clean and lightly moisturized to promote efficient healing. Once healed you can wear as much make-up as you wish, although you probably will not need to.
How long does the procedure take?
Most procedures take between 1.5 – 2.5 hours start to finish. It is always allow more than enough time so that you and your aesthetician can be relaxed and not be rushed to finish.
Will the enhancement look natural?
Absolutely! My signature brows, eyeliner and lips are always natural and appealing. I maintain that a person looks best with a ‘fresh faced’ look rather than a heavy unnatural look.
What if I am on medication – will it affect the procedure?
There are some medications that are contra-indicated. It is vitally important that you discuss medications you are taking with us at your consultation.
Is a Retouch/ Touch-up Session necessary?
Permanent Cosmetics is a two-step process, a ‘Perfecting’ or ‘Retouch’ Session should be taken between 4 and 6 weeks after the first procedure. This is when any minor adjustments to color or shape as initially undertaken will be made, and any imperfections corrected ensuring that your enhancement result is nothing short of perfect. A Color Boost is recommended 12 – 18 months post procedure to keep your Permanent Cosmetics enhancement looking fresh and beautiful.
I have suffered with cold sores in the past – will this affect my lip enhancement?
This needs to be discussed with your aesthetician at the consultation. As a preventative measure, you will need to see your doctor prior and take a course of medication to prevent a cold sore break out.
Can my poorly tattooed eyebrows be fixed?
In most cases they most certainly can, however your expectations need to be realistic as results are not always comparable to a fresh, new brow procedure. Poorly shaped, unnatural color brows need to be corrected using corrective pigments and sometimes the use of removal solutions to fade or remove old pigment, and can take several treatments to see an improvement.
Is the Consultation free?
Belleza Wellness will ensure that your Permanent Cosmetics procedure meets your every expectation by offering a Complimentary Concept Consultation to all new and existing clients enquiring about new treatments. Her warm and approachable manner will instantly put you at ease, and should you elect to go ahead with a procedure, she will make the necessary bookings, check your medical history and offer you some pre-read literature.
What should I expect the day of the procedure?
The day of your Permanent Cosmetics treatment will start with a consultation with Evelyn where she will carefully analyze your features and coloring, and review your requirements and expectations. She will test suitable colors on your skin and draw on your enhancement using conventional cosmetics. Together you will fine-tune all aspects of the color and shape, and only when both you and Evelyn are fully satisfied with the ‘template’, will she proceed with the Permanent Cosmetics procedure.
Are there any Aftercare Requirements?
Following your Permanent Cosmetics procedure, you will receive written instructions for the aftercare of your specific enhancement, as well as complimentary aftercare products to help you care for your enhancement at home. The treatment area should be kept clean and moisturized with a thin film of the recommended cream to assist the healing process. It is recommended that make-up to the site be avoided for a day or two while the skin heals. Any tiny scabs that may form should not be scratched off as this may dislodge pigment before the skin has had time to heal.
